OREANDA-NEWS. April 19, 2012. Handling of exports / imports at LLC Universal Transshipment Complex (UTC) in the first quarter of 2012 increased by two times compared to January-March 2011, to 700,000 tons, the company said.

Coal exports through the terminal grew threefold to 521,000 tons, handling of pig iron increased by 20% to 173,000 tons. In the reporting period the company was not handling inbound goods.

The three-month traffic growth is attributed to the increase of the port’s railway infrastructure capacity after commissioning of the second phase of near-dock railyard Luzhskaya, as well as favorable weather conditions during the 2011-2012 winter season, the report says.
