OREANDA-NEWS. April 18, 2012. Baosteel "low temperature high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel manufacturing technology development and industry" successfully passes expert appraisal, reported the press-centre of Baosteel. 

The appraisal committee agrees that the project reachs world leading level, changes the situation of China's long-term dependence on high-grade oriented silicon steel importation and indicates that China now has core competencies from R & D, production line self-integration to  industrialization in the field of oriented silicon steel.China Steel Industry Association Party secretary and vice president Liu Zhenjiang, Baosteel Group Co., Ltd. Chairman Xu Lejiang, appraisal committee experts, as well as Baosteel silicon team representatives attend the appraisal meeting.

After 10 years of painstaking research and four years of production practice, Baosteel achieves the goal of "bulk, stable production of high-grade oriented silicon steel with reasonable cost", makes a series of ingenious technological achievements, achieves high-grade oriented silicon steel product grade full coverage, with 10 brands of high-grade oriented silicon steel products filling the domestic blank. Baosteel high-grade oriented silicon steel is used in national key projects such as the Three Gorges Project and the transformer performance is the same with international top oriented silicon steel products.The project has formed a complete independent intellectual property rights system, has applied for 29  invention patents, 47 utility model patents and 405 technical secrets.

The appraisal meeting is organized by China Steel Association. The appraisal committee is hosted by Chinese Academy of Engineering academian Gan Yong, Yin Ruiyu, State Council Three Gorges Construction Committee Three Gorges 3rd phase project equipment manufacturing quality inspection group leader Lu Yansun. A total of 15 experts and user representatives including Chinese Academy of Engineering academian Wang Guodong and China Steel Association vice chairman Wang Xiaoqi participate the meeting. Appraisal committee  members inspect Baosteel oriented silicon steel production site, listen to the project development, user application and economic benefits report, and ask technical questions on Baosteel oriented silicon steel research and development and production line self-integration and industrialization and Baosteel silicon steel team members make careful reply.

After careful discussion, the appraisal committee gives an objective and fair assessment opinion.The appraisal committee agrees that the project includes laboratory research and development, production line self-integration   and industrialization complete process, has  long time span,   covers a wide range, is of high technical difficulty and belongs to typical  whole process, multi-disciplinary collaboration system innovation project. The low temperature and high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel manufacturing technology reaches world leading level, representing the development direction of oriented silicon steel technology; Self-integrated oriented silicon steel production line is modular, efficient, of high-precision, energy saving and environmental friendly.

Technical indicators of the production line reach the world leading level. It successfully achieves the conversion from independent research and development to large-scale production, solves a series of process control technology from molten iron, steelmaking, hot rolling, cold rolling and subsequent heat treatment and the key process control indicators reach  the world advanced level and is a major technological breakthrough that metallurgical sector achieves in recent years and has enormous economic and social benefice and demonstrative value.

Liu Zhenjiang congratulates the project's passing the assessment. He says that Baosteel completely relies on its own power, implements independent research and development, achieves full coverage of high-grade oriented silicon steel. It is magnificent that the physical quality of the product has reached the world advanced level and is approved by the users. He points out that the technology upgrades China's steel manufacturing capacity, breaks the foreign technology barriers and monopoly and contributes to China's economic development. He hopes that while doing project industrialization, Baosteel can continue to follow the development trend of the world's advanced level, continue to do research in new technologies and continue to work hard in reducing costs and increasing efficiency.

Xu Lejiang makes speech at the appraisal meeting. He first expresses thanks to China Steel Association who organizes the appraisal meeting and experts who participate in the assessment. He says that for more than 10 years, Baosteel breaks the blockade of foreign technology, adheres to independent innovation, has exploration and practice step by step, achieves major breakthrough in oriented silicon steel technology. The products fill the domestic gap, break the monopoly of foreign products in the Chinese market, achieve stable mass production and meet the needs of the national key projects. He says that from the point of view of technology trends and industry restructuring and development, experts give Baosteel  valuable comments and suggestions on oriented silicon steel technology, which will further promote Baosteel oriented silicon steel technology progress and Baosteel oriented silicon steel industry can go further and be better.
