OREANDA-NEWS. April 18, 2012. The House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan adopted the Resolution on the strengthening of friendly relations between Japan and Ukraine, including cooperation in the elimination of accidents at nuclear power plants.

The relevant document was adopted unanimously by Japanese MPs in the presence of Prime Minister Noda Yosihiko and the Minister for Emergencies Viktor Baloga who started today his official visit to Tokyo.

As noted in the Resolution, on the background of the development of bilateral relations between Japan and Ukraine, which this year celebrated 20 years, and in connection with last year's Big East Japanese earthquake and accidents at nuclear power plant "Fukushima-1", Japan has received significant support from the Government of Ukraine and Ukrainian people. The House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan expresses its sincere gratitude to Ukraine.

The document says that the terrible experience of accidents at NPP that survived the two countries, and shared knowledge of rapid response during a disaster and overcome the consequences after it, should serve not only the interests of both countries, but also become the international domain. From this perspective, the House of Representatives called epochal event the signing between Ukraine and Japan of the Agreement on cooperation in improving post-accident emergency response to nuclear power stations is to be concluded on Wednesday, April 18.

As the Prime Minister of Japan Yosihiko Noda noted, making today's Resolution has become an extremely important step in bilateral relations and cooperation of official Kyiv and Tokyo.

Adopted Resolution is the first document for the past 20 years that the Japanese parliament passed concerning the post-Soviet states.
