Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Belarus to Run Extra Trains during Euro 2012
OREANDA-NEWS. April 18, 2012. In Warsaw rail carriers of Ukraine, Poland, Russia and Belarus have signed a memorandum on cooperation in the organization of railway passenger traffic during the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship.
According to the memorandum, the parties will organize extra passenger trains to transport fans between the cities of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Poland, streamline customs and border procedures for reviews of Euro 2012. For this we developed the concept of interchange traffic between Russia and Poland.
Is expected 42 rail routes will run from Russia to Poland during Euro 2012, which will go across Belarus. Between Ukraine and Poland will be organized circulation 18 additional trains.
In addition to 18 additional trains between Ukraine and Poland, where appropriate, if the growing passenger traffic between Russia and Ukraine can organize circulation 20-30 additional trains in different directions. "However, in the main trains that run daily on the route Kyiv-Warsaw and Kyiv-Berlin will be equipped fully with cars up to 12", - said the head of the Main Passenger Department of Ukrzaliznytsya Olekandr Ivanko.
