OREANDA-NEWS. April 17, 2012. High-ranking officials – President, MPs, Premier, Ministers, heads of departments, judges, prosecutors and others - will receive higher salaries in Moldova. This is stipulated by amendments to the Law of the system of labor payments in the budget sector approved by the government. Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said to journalists that the increase in the salaries will be insignificant but did not provide them with concrete numbers. However, according to updated supplements to the document, the growth will not be as insignificant as the Minister has stated.

For example, according to her, the salary of a minister is equal to 7,1 thou. leis. After the increase it will be 10,5 thou. leis, nearly 50% up. The new salary of the President will make 15 thou. leis. Speaker of the Parliament will have 13 thou. leis, Vice-Speakers will be paid 11,6 thou. leis, chairmen of specialized parliamentary commissions and members of the Permanent Bureau will get 11,2 thou. leis; secretaries of permanent commission will receive 10,7 thou. leis, MPs will have 10,5 thou. leis. the wage of the Premier will make 13 thou. leis; the Senior Vice-Minister will be paid 12 thou. leis, Vice-Premiers will get 11.6 thou. leis, ministers 10,5 thou. leis, deputy ministers – 9,5 thou. leis, the state secretary will have 10 thou. leis. Chairmen of the Consitutional Court, the Supreme Court of Magistracy, the Supreme Judicial Chamber, The Prosecutor General’s office will be paid 13 thou. leis.

The wage of the head of the Chamber of Accounts will be 12 thou. leis. The Chairman of CEC, Director of ICC and the President of the Academy of Sciences will receive 10,5 thou. leis each. The Mayor of Chisinau will have 10,5 thou. leis, his Deputies will be given 8,8 thou. leis each. The same salary will be given to heads of regions with the population of over 100 thou. Heads of regions with the population of 50 thou. to 100 thou. will be given a salary of 8,3 thou. leis. Heads of regions with population up to 50 thou. people will receive 8 thou leis.

The salary of the governor of Gagauzia will make 10,5 thou. leis, the Chairman of the Popular Gathering of Gagauzia will be paid 9,5 thou. leis. If the draft law is passed by the Parliament, it will come into effect on June,1, 2012. In total the law is valued at 56 mln. leis per year, Valentina Buliga has said.
