OREANDA-NEWS. April 17, 2012. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov suggested a Canadian side to create intergovernmental commission on trade and economic issues. The PM stated that at the meeting with Minister for International Cooperation of Canada Bev Oda.

According to him the mechanism of intergovernmental commissions is a proven way of developing bilateral relations between countries on a number of issues: "We have a very good experience in the development of bilateral relations – it is a creation of intergovernmental commission on trade-economic, scientific and technical cooperation, etc".

Mykola Azarov said that such a commission could be established between the governments of Ukraine and Canada. "The Commission could periodically: every one or two years to meet alternately in Canada and Ukraine, with the participation of relevant ministers, heads of departments, specialists in a particular area. At meetings, we can solve a variety of issues of bilateral cooperation to settle the problem points, and important issues to address on sitting. Under the Commission could decide and technical assistance to Ukraine", - Mykola Azarov said.
According to him, Ukraine for its part is ready to create such a commission.

In tern, Minister for International Cooperation of Canada Bev Oda noted that such suggestion is very interesting. According to her, the Canadian side will take a decision after consultations with members of the Government: "This is a very interesting offer. Such a proposal on your part means a very important step towards economic development and bilateral relations between Ukraine and Canada".
