PM of Ukraine Called on Canadian Companies to Extract Oil and Gas
OREANDA-NEWS. April 17, 2012. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has called on Canadian companies to participate in the development and extraction of oil and gas in Ukraine. The Head of Government stated this during his meeting with the Minister of International Cooperation of Canada Beverley Oda.
"We are very seriously deal in attraction of foreign investments, especially into the area of development and extraction of oil and gas. I know there are very reputable companies in Canada that specialize in these areas. And we welcome the work of such Canadian companies in our country in development of our deposits," Mykola Azarov informed.
He has reminded Ukraine buys gas from Russia at the highest price in Europe."This means that our companies, especially metallurgical, non-competitive compared with similar international companies. So its own gas production for us, alternative sources of gas supply - fundamentally important issue. We now need serious help and promoting in this regard," Mykola Azarov underlined.
The Minister of International Cooperation of Canada Beverley Oda, in turn, has announced the Canadian Agency of national development is largely concerned with providing assistance in producing kinds of industries. "Canadian companies operating in extractive industries are among the leading companies in the world. Our work with different countries in the fields of the mining, ore mining, oil industry is in first place in many countries," she declared.
In addition, Beverley Oda has informed that recently in her country it has been decided to set up the Canadian National Institute for extractive industries. "I am confident that Canada have could provide assistance in such areas as development strategy, rules, regulation and implementation of all these guidelines into practice in the mining industry and oil and gas sector," said the Minister.
