FAS Took Part in Conference on Consumer Rights
OREANDA-NEWS. April 17, 2012. Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) Anatoly Golomolzin took part in an International Conference “Important Aspects of Enforcing Consumer Rights, the Prospects of Developing National Systems for Consumer Protection in the Modern Conditions of Global Social and Economic Integration”, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of coming into force the Law of the Russian Federation on Consumer Protection, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
The conference was attended by representatives of executive and legislative bodies, non-governmental organizations on consumer protection in the Russian Federation and some foreign countries and the CIS member-states.
Participants discussed various aspects of legal protection of consumers in the CIS member-states, priority areas of government regulation of consumer protection and developing efficient consumer policy.
The conference attendees were also interested in the issues related to development of a modern system of increasing awareness and informing population about consumer protection and developing consumer culture in different countries.
Speaking at the International Conference, Anatoly Golomolzin emphasized importance of preserving integrity of a system of relations developed between the antimonopoly bodies and the authorities responsible for consumer protection, improving it in view of changes in the economy.

The first Federal Law “On Consumer Protection” came into force on 7th April 1992 and was signed by the President of the Russian Federation, Boris Yeltsyn. For 12 years the issues of consumer protection have remained within the scope of reference of Russian antimonopoly authority.
