The honorary title of the Super Family of the Year granted by the Union of Large Families of Estonia (ULFE) and BIGBANK AS for the third successive year will be awarded to an exemplary and hard-working Estonian large family for the purpose of promoting integrity and large families, reported the press-centre of BIGBANK.

A committee consisting of three members of the management board of the Union of Large Families of Estonia, Kaire Vilgats, the patron of the event, and a representative of BIGBANK will be formed for determining the recipient of the honorary Super Family of the Year title.

Aage Ounap, Chairman of the Board of the ULFE, said that the Super Family of the Year competition has become a lovely tradition that promotes and gives recognition to healthy and strong large families of Estonia. “On the basis of the last year’s competition, it is clear that there are many large families in Estonia who can serve as an example for society. We also expect an active participation of families this year,” added Ounap.

The honorary title of the Super Family of the Year will be announced on 12 May at the Super Family Day meant for members of the ULFE and it will take place at Tallinn Zoo. The family who is awarded the honorary title will receive a letter of appreciation and 1,000 euros. In the previous year, the honorary title of the Super Family of the Year was awarded to the Mae family from Laane-Viru County with five children. “The committee opted for the Mae family as it is an active and hard-working large family whose members engage in interesting hobbies and sports and go for hikes together,” described Ounap.

In order to propose a candidate for the Super Family of the Year competition, a written application must be submitted by 6 May. The application can be submitted in the internet environment of BIGBANK at www.bigbank.en/suurperepaev. The proposal must include the surname and composition of the proposed family, their place of residence, occupations and positions of the parents and a free form description and reasoning. The name and contact details of the person submitting the application must also be included.

Along with the Super Family of the Year competition, today also marks the beginning of the “My Family” collage competition that encourages families to prepare collages together. The “My Family” collages may be submitted until 29 April and the winners will be announced at the Super Family Day on 12 May at Tallinn Zoo.

The Large Family Day, held for the eighth time, and the honorary title of the Super Family of the Year, awarded for the third time, also takes place in Latvia and Lithuania in parallel to Estonia.
The initiators and organisers of the Large Family Day and the honorary title are the Union of Large Families of Estonia and BIGBANK AS.
