OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2012. In Ukraine, sowing of early grain crops continues. Currently, domestic farmers had sown seeds on an area of 2.3 million hectares. This was informed by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk during a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers.

"The economies of Crimea have sown 66 thousand hectares, of Odessa region – 250 hectares, Khmelnitsky - 132 hectares, Ternopil - 106 hectares, Volyn - 77hectares and Rivne - 71 hectares. There are also those regions that have completed the sowing of early grain and leguminous plants - this is Chernivtsi, Transcarpathian and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Total in Ukraine there have been sown 57% of grain from the previous forecast," said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

The domestic farmers have conducted planting of sugar beets in the area of 107 hectares, representing 18% from the previous forecast. Also there are launched planting sunflowers, of which have planted 24 thousand hectares.

"For the spring-field works it has been purchased 436 thousand tons of diesel fuel, which is 3% more than needs and 110 tons of gasoline, which is 4% more than necessary. The agrarians have also provided with all necessary fertilizers. Currently there are 952 thousand tonnes, representing 106% of needs," the Minister informed.

For carrying out of sowing works the farmers have almost of 100 thousand tonnes of seeds grains and legumes as well as 114 thousand tons of seed maize, 23 thousand tons of sunflower, 139 thousand tons of soybeans and 1.1 million seedlings of sugar beets.
