OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2012. In March of 2012 2,98 million tons of sea - born cargo, i.e. more by 30,0 thousand tons or by 1,0 percent if to compare with the corresponding period of 2011 was handled in Klaipeda Port, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda Port.

699,5 thousand tons of oil were imported via Butinges Terminal in March of the current year.

According to cargo groups in March

Liquid cargoes increased by+28,6 pct., totally 958,7 thousand tons were handled
 
Dry and bulk cargoes decreased by -9,0 pct., totally 1 052,1 thousand tons were handled.

General cargo decreased by -7,5 pct., totally 970,5 thousand tons were handled.
 
Handling volumes of oil products in March of 2012 were 958,7 thousand tons, the year-on-year change is +28,6 percent year-on-year or more by 213,2 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2011.

The handling turnover of fertilizers in March of 2012 was 793,2thousand tons, i.e. less by -12,7 percent year-on-yearor by 116,1 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2011.

418,4 thousand tons of Ro-Ro cargo,i.e. less by -3,5 percent year-on-yearor by 14,9 thousand tons comparing with thecorresponding period of the previous yearwere handled in March of 2012. Calculating in units 22 011 units of this category of cargo, i.e. more by +1,3 percent year-on-yearor by 287 units were handled in the Port comparing with March of the previous year. Volumes of containerised cargohandling (calculating in TEU) were 28 686 TEU, i.e. less by -24,7 percent year-on-year or by -9 430 TEU thanduring the corresponding period of 2011. In terms of tonnage the turnover of containerised cargo handlingmarked a decreaseas well. Calculating in tons the drop rate was-6,2 percent year-on-yearor -26,1 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2011, in total 418,4thousand tons were handled.

Throughout March of this year 21 188passengers, i.e. more by 11,8 percent year-on-yearor by 2 239 passengers than during the corresponding month of 2011 visited Klaipeda Port.

594 vessels, i.e. more by +1,7 percent year-on-year or by 10 vessels than during the corresponding period of 2011, were registered in the Port of Klaipeda in March of 2012.
