Indian Railway Revenue Earnings up by 10.15% during FY 2011-12
OREANDA-NEWS. April 13, 2012. The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the financial year 2011-12 were Rs. 104278.79 crore compared to Rs. 94670.76 crore during fiscal 2010-11, registering an increase of 10.15 per cent.
The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 62940.81 crore during financial year 2010-11 to Rs. 69675.97 crore during financial year 2011-12, registering an increase of 10.70 per cent.
The total passenger revenue earnings during the financial year 2011-12 were Rs. 28645.52 crore compared to Rs. 26006.77 crore during fiscal 2010-11, registering an increase of 10.15 per cent.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 2825.16 crore during financial year 2011-12 compared to Rs. 2522.81 crore during the financial year 2010-11, registering an increase of 11.98 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during financial year 2011-12 was 8306.16 million compared to 7888.91 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 5.29 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during financial year 2011-12 was 4383.17 million and 3922.99 million compared to 4228.53 million and 3660.38 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 3.66 per cent and 7.17 per cent respectively.
