Moldova, Ukraine Signed New Contract on Supply of Electricity
OREANDA-NEWS. April 13, 2012. Thus, the price of the electricity generated in Ukraine and sold to Moldova at 6,1 cents for 1 kWh, 1 has grown 13,2% since April.
As the Ministry of Economy of Moldova informs, the contract, signed between Energocom, a Moldovan company, and DTEK Power Trade, a Ukrainian one, is valid till the end of 2012. According to it, Moldova will monthly receive Ukrainian electricity in an amount enough to meet in full needs of the northern and north-west distribution networks, RED-Nord and RED Nord-Vest. The electricity will be supplied by Ukraine in the period between April, 1 and December 31, 2012 at a price of 6,9 cents for 1 kWh. It should be reminded that starting from April, 1, 2012 Ukraine ceased supplying Moldova with electricity due to expiration of the contract and unwillingness of Moldova to purchase electricity from DTEK Power Trade at a new price of 7,5 cents.
The same reason has become the ground for the supply to be interrupted by the Moldovan hydro power plant, located in Transdniestria and owned by Russian INTER RAO UES, which offered a new price for its electricity at 7,3 cents instead of 6,1 cents for 1 kWh. However, after the deliveries were interrupted completely, Moldova signed the contract on purchase of electricity from Moldova hydro power plant at 6,9 for 1 kWh.
The contract was signed by Gas Natural Fenosa, the largest power distributor of Moldova, which bought Chisinau’s, central and south electricity distribution networks in 2000 and merged them into one company later. According to the annual contract, Moldova will receive 3,3 bln. kWh. Both contracts, signed with the Ukrainian and the Russian company, have to be registered in the National Energy Regulatory Agency.
