OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2012. The session of the International Gas Union’s Natural Gas Utilization Working Committee 5 (IGU WOC 5) was held in Prague on 21-23 February.

Representatives of gas companies – IGU members participated in the session. The delegation of OJSC Gazprom promgaz was represented by A.Y. Zorya, Deputy General Director; V. A. Karasevich, Director of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Research and Development Center; and I. A. Kirshina, Head of Feasibility Studies Sector.

The Committee’s final report on the work period from 2009 to 2012 was approved at the session; the report section containing analysis of structure and dynamics of gas consumption by the industrial sector had been prepared by the OJSC Gazprom promgaz experts.

In the course of the event, the issues of the preparations for the XXV World Gas Congress and drawing up of the Work Programme for 2012-2015 were discussed.

The International Gas Union (IGU), a reputable non-profit organization, has been operating since 1931. It is a major center for interaction of the world’s largest gas companies which provides best global gas industry practices. At present, the IGU unites gas associations and companies from 71 countries across the world. The Union’s multifaceted research activities have been carried out through special thematic committees and working parties. Working Committee 5 (Utilization of Gas) of the IGU unites experts from 17 countries of the world and deals with the research of state and evaluation of prospects of gas utilization in industry, household and utility sector and in transport, including issues of technology, equipment, rational use of energy resources, and involvement of non-conventional and renewable energy resources in economic turnover etc.
