Petrom Moldova Reversed Increase in Prices for Oil Products
OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2012. The company officially has informed the National Regulatory Agency for Energy that it reverses its decision to raise prices for oil products and returns to old ones since as a result of thorough calculations reserves have been found allowing keeping old prices for fuel.
Petrom Moldova has become the only company among key operators of the market which has recently raised prices for petrol and diesel by 60 bans. Experts concede that the raise has been just postponed for a while.
It will happen after Easter holidays since before the holiday the flow of unhappy information have already brought down over people about possible higher fares in route transport means and higher prices for foods triggered by increase in prices for fuel. Problems have been announced by growers as far as the increase in prices for fuel is extremely undesirable for them in the period of spring filed works.
Besides, since rivals of Petrom Moldova have kept the old prices, it would be very unprofitable for the company to frighten car owners off with high prices because they would prefer to refuel their cars at other filling stations. For example, after the increase AI-95 cost 17,84 leis per liter at Petrom Moldova, whereas its rivals offered it at 17,22 to 17,25 leis.
Petrom Moldova’s diesel was 16,94 leis per liter, whereas Lukoil Moldova, Bemol and Tirex-Petrol sold it at 16,45 to16,47 leis. Earlier 5 companies announced their intention to raise prices by 4,1 to 4,4% for petrol and 2,4 to 4,9% for diesel. If it happens, this will be the second increase during this year and the prices will break the record.
On March, 5 prices for petrol and diesel went up by 4% upon average in Moldova: Ai-95 went 16,45 to 17,25 leis up and diesel went 15,65 to 16,45 leis up. The previous increased in prices for oil products was registered on May, 3, 2011.
