Inflation Rate Amounts 2% in March in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2012. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, within the last 12 months, from March, 2011 till March, 2012, the Consumer Price Index increased 5,4%. Inflation made up 0,8% in March, 2012, reaching 3,3% within the first three months of the year and 5,8% within March, 2011-March, 2012. Prices for foods went 0,1% down, prices for nonfoods went 0,6% up; tariffs for services increased 0,1%.
In March, 2012 prices decreased 5,6% for potatoes, 5,1% for sugar beets, 2,5% for tomatoes, 2,4% for onions, 2,1% for cabbages, 0,8% for rice, 0,5% fro diet eggs and sugar in both cases. In March, prices grew 4,8% for mushrooms, 2,3% for fruit, 1,8% for pork, 1,3% for carrots, 0,5% for butter, vodkas and other strong beverages.
Among nonfoods, in March, 2011 prices grew 2,8% for fuel, including 6,1% for bottled liquefied gas and 4,2% for petrol and diesel, 1,5% for dresses, 1,2% for footwear and women underwear, 0,7%for children footwear, 0,5% for women trousers, jackets and sweaters. Among services, in March, 2012 the biggest growth in prices was registered for driving courses and made up 1,4%. Payments for kindergartens and catering increased 0,4%.
Prices for majority of services and goods did not change in March. As it was said before, the National Bank of Moldova lowered it inflation rate prediction for 2012 from 6,5% to 4,9%. Inflation rate was 7,8% in 201 in Moldova.
