OREANDA-NEWS. April 11, 2012. Recently, Baosteel has accomplished its S355 heavy plate contract, as well as the first delivery, for offshore application at 5m production line with the international petroleum giant, Total. This contract will apply in offshore platform project of Total in Nigeria, with total volume over 1400 ton, which is the first time for Total to procure steel for offshore platform in China, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

With production challenge, large batch and short delivery term, engineers from Baosteel Co., Ltd. Has meticulously planned the process proposal, formulate the detailed schedule and emergency counter-measures, elaborate the real intention to relevant parties, and arrange dedicated staff to track and coordinate the whole process. Under the joint efforts of all relevant departments, challenges arise from the production are overcome, so that production task is accomplished in 39 days, and the whole process inspection by customer and third party is accepted.

The production has demonstrated the manufacturing capability of 5m heavy plate mill to produce offshore platform steel, accumulated the experience for the contract of its kind and laid solid foundation for Baosteel to march toward international maritime market.
