Arkhangelsk Port’s Throughput Down 24.3% in Q1
OREANDA-NEWS. April 09, 2012. Cargo volume handled JSC Arkhangelsk Sea Commercial Port (Arkhmortorgport) in January-March 2012 totaled 338,600, a 24.3% decline from Q1, 2011, the stevedore company said.
In the reporting period, the port saw a 64.9-percent slump in imports (112,300 tons) and a 7.2-percent decline in exports (53,700 tons), while short sea traffic rose 8.9% to 148,000 tons. The volume of non-seaborne cargo totaled 24,700 tons.
Arkhangelsk Sea Commercial Port JSC is a diversified stevedoring company operating at the Port of Arkhangelsk. The company handles primarily general cargoes, cellulose, cardboard, containers, timber, metals, fertilizers, heavy-lift equipment and bulked cargoes. The Arkhangelsk port is able to handle up to 4.5 million tons of cargo a year. In 2011, cargo throughput at the port of Arkhangelsk rose 1.8% year-over-year to 1,736,200 tons. Net income of the company for the nine-month period of 2011 rose 23.9% from the same period a year before, to RUB 665,970,000.
