Rosneft Reports on its Work in Algeria
OREANDA-NEWS. April 06, 2012. Rosneft-Stroytransgaz Limited (RN-STG), controlled by Rosneft and Stroytransgaz, is working jointly with Sonatrach, Algeria’s national oil company, to begin reservoir delineation at three earlier discovered deposits within Block 245 South in Algeria. The three deposits are East Takuazet, West Takuazet and North Tisselit, reported the press-centre of Rosneft.
The aim of reservoir delineation is to specify the development programme for these deposits. It involves 3D seismic survey (covering an area of 386 square kilometres), the drilling of three new wells, two horizontal sidetracks and a horizontal offshoot.
To date, all of the planned seismic survey work has been completed, sites have been prepared for drilling and drilling of the first well has begun.
Work is scheduled for completion in September 2012.
Notes for editors
In 2001 Rosneft and Stroytransgaz won the first international tender to explore for oil and gas in Algeria. RN-STG, a company set up on a parity basis, and Sonatrach, Algeria’s national oil company, concluded a contract to explore and develop oil and gas deposits in the Gara Tisselit perimeter (Block 245 South) in the Illizi oil and gas province in south-east Algeria.
Geological studies at the block in 2001-2007 discovered three oil and gas deposits – East Takuazet, West Takuazet and North Tisselit.
A detailed field appraisal was performed in 2009-2010 to classify reserves discovered at the fields as P1+P2. Further refinement of the deposit development plan was required following the drilling and testing of seven wells.
