Uzbekistan, China Expand Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. April 05, 2012. The forum of business circles of Uzbekistan and China took place in Tashkent.
The event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and was attended by the heads of ministries and departments, companies and concerns of the two countries responsible for the sphere of external economic relations, investments, oil and gas, banking and financial, commerce and industry, chemical industry, information technology, transport and communications, construction, electronic product manufacturing.
The Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan E. Ganiev, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan A.Shayhov stressed that effective cooperation between the two nations has been developing dynamically in all areas. An important legal basis for this are the agreements reached during meetings of heads of two states.
Uzbek-Chinese relations are developing dynamically, on the basis of the Interstate Agreement on partnership relations, friendship and cooperation signed in 2005.
The volume of mutual trade turnover in 2011 amounted to 2 billion 596 million U.S dollars. There are 382 joint ventures with the participation of Chinese investment companies, 65 companies representative of China are actively operating here in Uzbekistan.
Mr. Jiang Yaopin, Deputy Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China emphasized that Uzbekistan has a favorable investment environment, the necessary conditions and incentives for foreign investors.
– China always attaches great importance to developing the friendly and mutually beneficial relations, he said. – We are particularly interested in further expansion of ties in such spheres as trade, investment and information technology.
Representatives of about forty companies of China at the forum were informed about the priority directions of attracting investments into the economy of our country. The guests were briefed on the ongoing privatization process in Uzbekistan in Uzbekistan, consistently implemented reforms in the economic sphere, the results of reforms aimed at developing small and private businesses.
The forum discussed the further development of cooperation between the two countries in such fields as economy, investment, trade, energy, small business and entrepreneurship, engineering and electronics, involvement of Chinese companies in the privatization process in our country, the implementation of joint projects in Free Industrial-Economic Zone “Navoi” as well as the organization of an industrial park in Jizzakh region.
Cooperation exchange with the participation of a number of companies and enterprises of Uzbekistan and the business community of China was held in the framework of the forum. The Chinese and Uzbek businessmen also discussed the development and implementation of mutually beneficial projects in many areas during the forum.
The First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Finance Rustam Azimov made a speech at the event.
