OREANDA-NEWS. April 04, 2012. Tata Swach has been voted the Product of the Year – 2012 in the ‘water purifiers’ category. Tata Swach was felicitated as one of the innovative products on the basis of an independent survey conducted by Nielsen with 30,000 consumers across 36 markets in the country.

 ‘Product of the Year’ is the global consumer recognition standard that celebrates and rewards the best innovations in consumer products such as Tata Swach through an independent consumer survey across the country — in 32 countries for 25 years. The unique methodology to judge the winner is that companies nominate their best innovations launched, which are shortlisted by a jury panel of eminent citizens and very senior media people. The shortlisted products are put through an independent and 100-percent face-to-face consumer survey conducted by Nielsen across 30,000 respondents in 36 markets to select only one winner in each category.

The award was announced in a glittering event on March 31, 2012, at The Trident, Mumbai. Ashvini Hiran, COO, consumer products business, Tata Chemicals, and Amrita Dey, AGM, marketing, water purifiers, Tata Chemicals, accepted the award on behalf of the Tata Swach team.

Tata Swach has won several awards across the world for innovation and design, including the Asian Innovation Award, Hong Kong; Design of the Decade Award, US; If Product Design Award, Germany, and ICIS Innovation Award, UK.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hiran apprised, “It is a great privilege that people of India have voted Tata Swach as the best and most desired water purifier in India. Safe drinking water is a basic human right and Tata Swach combines technology, performance, design and convenience to serve this basic human right of millions of consumers. The company has made affordability an important part of its innovation efforts.”
