OREANDA-NEWS. April 04, 2012. To date, there are 24550 outlets in the capital and suburbs to sell goods and services of which 81% are trade outlets, 6,7% are catering institutions and 12,2% are outlets to render various services.

To compare, in 2007 there were 19,7 thou. outlets, 24,3% down as compared with 2011; in 2000 there were 8,8 thou., that is 2,8 times less. A greater number of sales outlets led to wider trade spaces which were 374 thou. sq.m. in 1998 in total and 1,58 mln. sq.m. in in 2011, 4,2 times up.

According to the Trade, Catering and Services Department of Chisinau, there are 19896 trade institutions, including 41 shopping center, 866 food shops among which 29 are supermarkets, 4,7 thou. commercial stores, 3,3 thou. movable outlets, 2,6 thou. nonfood shops, 2,3 thou. warehouses, 45 markets, over 5 thou. kiosks and pavilions, etc. 87% of 1654 catering institutions of the capital are bars, cafes, cafeterias among which 130 are school canteens. 3 thousand institutions render various services to population.
