OREANDA-NEWS. April 03, 2012. The Head of FAS Department for International Economic Cooperation, Lesya Davydova, took part in a Forum of the CIS member states - “The CIS and New Forms of Eurasian Integration”, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Forum was attended by members of the Economic Council of Commonwealth of the Independent States, the Integration Committee of the Eurasian Economic Community, representatives of the authorities, industry organizations, business structures, non-government organizations from the CIS countries.

At the Forum, Lesya Davydova took part in the sessions of the section “Free Trade Zone, Customs Union, Single Economic Space. Problems and Prospects”, and in the Round Table of the heads of CIS bodies for sectoral economic cooperation, where Ms Davydova was actively involved in discussions of the issues on the agenda.

The Round Table discussions focused on the achievements of CIS bodies for sectoral cooperation. In his presentation, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary, Alexander Dron’ emphasized vigorous activities of some CIS bodies for sectoral cooperation. Along with the Railway Council of the CIS Member-States, Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications, Electric Power Industry Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers, he praised the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP). In particular, Alexander Dron’ emphasized practical effects of the efforts of ICAP and the ICAP Headquarters for Joint Investigations of the Antimonopoly Violations in the CIS Member-States, that carried out large-scale studies of the markets of passenger air transportation, telecommunications and retail in the CIS member-states.

Forum participants were able to discuss problems and forms of developing sectoral cooperation bodies in a friendly atmosphere.
