OREANDA-NEWS. April 02, 2012.  OJSC “Atomenergomash” announces its participation in the 12th China International Nuclear Industry Exhibition which will open on April 3rd in Beijing. The delegation of OJSC “Atomenergomash” will be headed by the acting CEO of Atomenergomash Boris Arseev. Within the framework of the exhibition, Atomenergomash will present the BN-800 reactor which has been developed by Afrikantov Experimental Mechanical Engineering Design Bureau (member of Atomenergomash).

“China is one of the leading industrial countries, which has one of the most intensive programs in place for the construction of new power generation capacities. Our goal is to demonstrate the potential of the advanced products of Russian nuclear machine building, which, in terms of many parameters, will determine the vector of the power generating technologies development for the forthcoming decades.  We also see a high potential for cooperation with Chinese companies in terms of development of new projects in the field of power machine building,” said Boris Arseev.

BN-800 is the first integral type sodium reactor based on the prototype fast reactor BN-600, which has been successfully operated since 1980. In the course of development thereof the following tasks, which meet the requirements set by the contemporary level of nuclear power industry development, were solved: the international trends of increasing the safety of NPPs, maximum use of state-of-the-art proven technologies and equipment, improvement of the economic results. BN-800 uses the closed-end nuclear fuel cycle technologies, has the thermal capacity of 2100 MW, electric power of 880 MW, installed capacity utilization factor of 80% with the efficiency of 42%, service life of 40 years. The first power generating unit with BN-800 reactor will be installed at Beloyarskaya NPP-2 in Russia and is scheduled for commissioning in 2014.

Nuclear Industry China Exhibition organized by the Chinese Society of Nuclear Sciences and other industry-related agencies is one of the main events in the life of China’s nuclear industry, as well as in that of the entire Asian region. Every year most famous world manufacturers and suppliers of nuclear equipment and technologies, including State Corporation “Rosatom”, take part in it. The Nuclear Industry China will be held from April 3 to 6, in China National Convention Center.
