OREANDA-NEWS. April 02, 2012. Belarus raises export duties on oil and oil products. The relevant decision is laid down by Council of Ministers resolution No. 273.

The crude oil export duty will rise from USD 411.2 to USD 460.7 per tonne. The uniform export duty on light and dark oil products (except for gasoline) will total USD 304 per tonne, up from USD 271.4 per tonne in March 2012.

The uniform export duty on light and dark oil products was set at 66% of the oil export duty on 1 October 2011. The same duty is applicable to benzene, toluene, and xylene. Adjusted by 0.9 coefficient, the export duty on commercial gasoline and directly distilled gasoline will be USD 414.6 instead of USD 370.1 in March. The export duty on propane, butane, ethylene, propylene, butylene and butadiene, other liquefied gases will stand at USD 158.6 instead of USD 157.3.

Since 1 October 2011 Belarus has followed Russia in calculating export duties on oil and oil products using the 60/66 formula. The formula is applied to the products, which are exported outside the customs territory of the Customs Union. The formula implies that the rates of export duty on light and dark oil products have been harmonized and are calculated using the coefficient 0.66 (66%) of the oil duty. The duty on petrol is calculated using the coefficient 0.90 (90%).
