OREANDA-NEWS. March 30, 2012. Belarus has seen the consumer price index grow 1.5% in February 2012 to compare with 1.9% in January 2012, 2.3% in December 2011 and 8.1% in November, the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

In January-February 2012 Belarus’ consumer prices grew 3.5%.

In February, staple food prices went up 1.6% (up 3.9% since early January 2012); non-food prices increased 0.8% (2.4%), and service prices went up 2.9% (4.8%).

Belarus’ inflation grew 108.7% in 2011, while the original forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. The government expects inflation to stay under 19-22% in 2012.
