Meeting of Supervisory Board of Eesti Pank Held
OREANDA-NEWS. March 30, 2012. The Supervisory Board of Eesti Pank held its regular meeting. They talked about the reserves necessary for the fulfilment of the central bank tasks and about profit sharing, deciding to continue the discussion at the next meeting, reported the press-centre of Eesti Pank.
"The size of the central bank’s reserves is a very important decision that needs to be thoroughly discussed. We have talked about it with the Executive Board and we are sharing a common view on two principles. First of all, the debt crisis has notably increased central banks’ risks. Second of all, it is clear the central bank needs sufficient reserves to fulfil its tasks," said Jaan Mannik, Head of the Supervisory Board.
The Supervisory Board decided that the remuneration of Ardo Hansson, the new Governor of Eesti Pank assuming office on 7 June, will be 8,100 euros a month.
"The size of the remuneration is the same compared to Andres Lipstok, but we have simplified the salary calculation scheme. Ardo Hansson has no monthly supplementary allowances or compensations, just the basic salary. We used the same approach when determining the salaries of our Deputy Governors," Mannik noted.
The next Supervisory Board meeting takes place on 10 April.
