Fujitsu Introduces Flexible Module Printer for Kiosks
OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2012. Fujitsu Components America has redesigned a new modular thermal printer unit, the FTP-639USL100 series, that can be configured to maximize design and installation flexibility for various embedded kiosk designs.
The basic module consists of Fujitsu’s FTP-639MCL high-speed (200mm/sec) 3-inch thermal printer mechanism, cutter and interface board with a newly designed paper damper that can adjust paper tension in both the upper and lower direction. The unit also includes an adjustable, paper roll holder that accommodates rolls from 80mm up to 150mm maximum.
The paper holder arm can be positioned in either a horizontal or vertical orientation, just by changing the setting position on the arm, to maximize available installation space. For larger diameter paper rolls, the arm can be exchanged for an optional paper holder that can handle 250 mm paper rolls. In addition, the arm can be completely detached so that the printer, which measures 110.4 (W) x 94.5 (D) x 75 (H) mm, can be used independently, if desired. Additional bezel and presenter/retractor modules can also be added.
The printer unit’s reset and feed switches, as well as a power/printer status LED, are all conveniently located on the top of the printer. The front cutter is easily accessible using the platen-open lever to release paper jams and perform head cleaning. The paper guide can also be easily removed, exchanged, or detached to clear paper jams.
The FTP-639USL100 series supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and Linux drivers. It is available with a USB or optional RS-232 interface board.
Fujitsu’s Flexible Module Printer will be available in July 2012. Delivery is stock /18 weeks ARO.
