PM of Ukraine: We Should Give Incentives to Farmers to Feed Cows
OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2012. We must do everything possible to avoid butchering, and create conditions for feeding cows by individual peasant farmers. This was stressed by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at a session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
"The calving in individual peasant farms annually brings up to 2 million head of cattle. Almost all are butchered, so that without support, without incentives the owners will not feed a stock" - Mykola Azarov said.
At the same time he noted that although cows, which are fed by individual peasant farmers, productive not enough and quality milk "often does not meet standards," but it is "the owners of these cows are fed today the country."
"We shouldn’t also forget that for many people who feed cows, this is a basic guaranteed income, sometimes the only source of livelihood. This can not be neglected. – Mykola Azarov stressed. - The reduction of cattle stock fed by a peasant is not only economic but also social, humanitarian disaster for individual villages".
Mykola Azarov stressed the need to develop such tools of support of farmers that would stimulate the development of a large commodity production as support of individual farms that are currently being fed with milk significant numbers, besides providing a job and stable income the family.
