OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2012. EU allots to Moldova the greatest amount of money per head within the European Neighborhood Policy, Dirk Schuebel, head of the EU delegation in Moldova, briefed journalists. EU is going to back Moldova in future to build confidence between Moldova and Transdniestira by allotting 12 mln. euros in 2012 and 28 mln. euros in 2013.

Priority areas to spend them will remain business development, social sphere, civil society development, agriculture, reduction of pesticides use. According to Dirk Schuebel, EU also hopes to restore railway communication between two banks of the Dniester not only for passenger transportations but also for commercial purposes. In connection with its active support in strengthening confidence, EU is planning to change its status of an observer in the negotiations on the Transdniestrian settlement with the status of their participant.

In Future EU will continue supporting such areas as frontier safety and bio mass energy use. All funds assigned by EU for Moldova are strictly controlled, the head of the EU delegation noted. “It’s is more convenient for us to allot funds to specific projects, such as procurement of equipments, construction of houses.

In this case results are visible. When means are allocated to the budget, we are not able to control each cent. But EU allots money by tranches, and if conditions have not been met on the one tranche, there will not be the next one. We have seen it once”, Dirk Schuebel said.
