OREANDA-NEWS. March 28, 2012. Projects for the construction of small hydropower plants on the Carpathians rivers will not be adopted by the territorial units of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine without prior public discussion. This was agreed by the head of the NGO "National Ecological Center" Yaroslav Movchan and Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Mykola Zlochevsky during a meeting in the building of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

"We are interested in that the nature of the Carpathians will be saved. Environmental non-governmental organizations are our partners in this matter, "- said the Minister.

Mykola Zlochevsky instructed the heads of regional branches in Zakarpatia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions on April 2, after meeting the Board of Ministry in Kyiv to meet with environmental NGOs to inform them of approval documents for the construction of small hydropower plants on the Carpathians rivers.
