OREANDA-NEWS. March 27, 2012. TRANSNEFT JSC began building of the Polar Region - Purpe oil pipeline, as the Company's official representative reported. According to him, the first kilometer of the new oil pipeline was welded on March, the 19th. "At present, we reached the welding capacity of 300 meters per day", - he said.

The building works are being carried out by TransNeft'Stroi Ltd. contractor organization. The workers began welding the pipe at the line on March, the 5th. The building of the Polar Region - Purpe oil pipeline of up to 45 million tons of flow capacity was planned for arrangement of oil transportation from fields of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District and the north of Krasnoyarsk Krai. The total length of the oil pipeline is about 500 km. Additionally, the oil companies will have to built supply pipelines of about 1200 km of total length. The Polar Region - Purpe will link oilfields of Yamal with the West Siberia - Pacific Ocean (ESPO) oil pipeline.

According to the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, the financing of building the Polar Region - Purpe oil pipeline is fulfilled from the funds provided by TRANSNEFT JSC. For realization of the first stage of the project, a line from Tarko-Sale settlement (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District) to Purpe settlement will be built. The building shall be completely fulfilled in the forth quarter of the year 2014. The second stage of the project presupposes building of a part from Novozapolyarny settlement (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District) to Tarko-Sale settlement. The termination of building is expected in the fourth quarter of the year 2015. The third stage of the project is building of a part of the oil pipeline from an oil pumping station in Tazovsky district of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District to Novozapolyarny settlement. According to the plan, the termination of building is the forth quarter of the year 2016.
