Ukrainian, British Customs Will Jointly Fight against Contraband
OREANDA-NEWS. March 27, 2012. A delegation of Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland stays on the official visit in Kyiv at the invitation of State Customs Service.
During the working meeting of the head of the State Customs Service Igor Kalyetnik and the General Director of Customs of Great Britain Mike Norhrov noted that the Customs Service of Ukraine and the UK have many common tasks. These include the fight against drug trafficking, combating illegal trafficking of tobacco products. As well as training Ukrainian customs officials for Euro 2012 and British - to this year's Olympics. Therefore, exchange of experience, which services already have, is extremely important.
Commenting on the signing of a bilateral protocol on cooperation, Igor Kalyetnik noted that these arrangements will enable the customs departments of both countries to exchange information quickly, which will allow not only discovering, or smuggling, but also further eliminating channels of delivery of drugs or cigarettes.
The parties also noted the tendency of increasing trade turnover between Ukraine and Great Britain in 2011. There was an increase in trade turnover by 22% - to USD 1.6 billion.
British delegation visited Central Monitoring of the State Custom Service and the Central Customs Administration of laboratory research and expertise.
