Estonian Air Flies Winners of Global Management Challenge to Final
OREANDA-NEWS. March 27, 2012. The winner of the international Estonian Air Management Challenge (EAMC) is the team of Rimess Baltic, who will fly to Kiev on 17 April to represent Estonia in the international final, reported the press-centre of Estonian Air.
“Estonian Air shares the same values as the EAMC – teamwork and constant self-development – and this competition is an excellent representation of these qualities. We will be keeping our fingers crossed for the Estonian team!” said Gunnar Magi, Director of Development and Marketing at Estonian Air.
Global Management Challenge, the biggest strategic management game in the world, started in Portugal in 1980. The competition is based on a business simulator created in a virtual environment, where companies managed by the teams compete with each other in a business management that is constantly changing and similar to the real world. 450,000 competitors from more than 30 countries of the world currently participate in the competition.
In Estonia the competition was held for the first time in 2012 under the name Estonian Air Management Challenge.
The strategic simulation that takes place in the virtual environment gives companies a good opportunity for the development of their teamwork and management skills. “The competition encourages company managers to step out of their everyday routine and challenge themselves in an unfamiliar and constantly changing environment whilst trying to beat their competitors,” said Katre Kaarenperk, the organiser of Estonian Air Management Challenge.
The main round of the local competition Estonian Air Management Challenge lasted for five weeks and the final was held on 9 March. Five teams representing Estonian companies took part in the management competition. The other two teams that took part in the competition in addition to the finalists Rimess Baltic, Ernst & Young and Tallinn Airport, were Estonian Air and Saku Brewery.
