OREANDA-NEWS. March 26, 2012. As of today construction and installation works at site are completed. There is 100% readiness of melting section and makeup demineralizer section, both pump stations – circulating pumping station for recycling water supply and booster pumping plant and turbine section. At main sulphuric acid plant the workers completed works on heat-insulation of the equipment and flues, and heat-insulation of piping system is being made, that will be completed after ending of start-up works. At the stage of completion are the following works: electro technical works, P&I and Automatic Process Control System installation. The abovementioned works are made by main contractor – UTEM company (“Yuzhteploeneromontazh”), subcontractor – CANT company, and also Energomir company (Odessa).

All the sections of new plant, making up the basis of sulphuric acid production process flow, are tested separately and also complex testing of all systems is made.

The construction of new complex for sulfuric acid production by method of double contact and double absorption (DC/DA), capacity 1818.2 tons of finished product per day (600 thous. tons per year) has begun September 1, 2008.

Commissioning of the new sulphuric acid plant will allow providing sulphuric acid for increasing of titanium dioxide production capacities up to 120 thous. tons per year (in 2011 the plant produced 108 069 tons of titanium dioxide). Besides new plant will allow making comprehensive utilization of released heat: 12MWt Electric Generator Turbine of the new plant will allow to generate 96 480 thous. KW/h per year that will provide 40% of plant’s needs in electrical energy.
