OREANDA-NEWS. March 26, 2012. Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko and European Commissioner for Energy Gunter Oettinger signed Sixth general report on completion the Memorandum between Ukraine and EU on understanding on energy cooperation in 2011.

Commenting on the signing of the document Yuriy Boyko said that Ukraine had signed the report for the first time as a country - member of the Energy Community.

"This imposes certain obligations on us as members of the Community and we are waiting for answers to questions put to the Energy Community as members of this organization", - said Yuriy Boyko.

During the visit of Ukrainian delegation to Brussels was held an expert meeting on Ukraine-EU energy cooperation. During the meeting was presented the role of Ukraine in the energy market in Europe and discussed the financing of modernization of Ukrainian GTS. Also discussed targets revised energy strategy of Ukraine and European support for nuclear safety of Ukrainian NPPs.

Yuriy Boyko also met with a member of the European Commission for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule.

They discussed ways of strengthening Europe's energy security plans and Ukraine's energy sector in the context of the future association with the European Union.
