TENEX and KHNP Agreed on Possibility of Using Russian Far East Route
OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2012. President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. Ltd. (KHNP) Mr. Jong-Shin Kim and TENEX General Director Alexei Grigoriev basically agreed on March 22, 2012 a possibility of enriched uranium product (EUP) supplies via a seaport located in Russian Far East. It took place during a meeting held within the framework of Nuclear Industry Summit currently taking place in the Republic of Korea devoted to improving of the nuclear power safety.
The Parties consider the new agreement as an important contribution to improving safety of the global nuclear industry, particularly given the fact that changing the supplies route will reduce the EUP en-route stay (from two to three times compared to the currently used route) and consequently minimize the related transportation risks.
Established in 2001, the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. Ltd. (KHNP) is a South Korean nuclear power plants monopolist operator holding the fifth place among the global suppliers of nuclear generated electricity.
