OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2012. The Economic Commission at the CIS Economic Council held a meeting, attended by Deputy Head of FAS Russia Anatoly Golomolzin, the Head of the Headquarters for Joint Investigations of Antimonopoly Violations in the CIS member-states at the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy - ICAP (further on referred to as the Headquarters), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

First of all, Anatoly Golomolzin informed the meeting about the efforts towards implementing the decisions made by the Council of the Heads of CIS Governments regarding the markets of air transportation and telecommunications in the CIS sates and the measures aimed at suppressing antimonopoly violations on these markets.

Also Anatoly Golomolzin delivered a Report “On the State of Competition on the Market of Sales of Food Products through Retail Trade Networks in the CIS Member-States”, based on a study conducted by the Headquarters. The purpose of the study was to reveal the problems and the bottlenecks affecting the market, including pricing, in particular, specifics of setting price for the services offered by trade networks.

The Report analyses government regulation in the CIS member-states and an international experience in this field. The Report especially focuses on analysis of contractual practice between suppliers of food products and trade networks that has an impact upon the level of competition in this segment. The concluding part of the Report contains proposals designed to develop competition on these markets in view of importance of maintaining the balance of interests between producers (suppliers) of the goods, trading networks and end-customers.

The meeting approved the Report and, taking into account considerable social importance of the retail market, proposed to engage the interested bodies of sectoral cooperation within the CIS in this work.

Summing up the meeting, participants decided that the Report shall be considered by the CIS Economic Council.
