OREANDA-NEWS. March 21, 2012. Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Kashevarov made a presentation at an international seminar “Developing Competition on the Market of Payment Cards” in St Petersburg, organized by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) jointly with Hungary’s Competition Authority, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

At the beginning of his presentation, Andrey Kashevarov gave some background and informed his foreign colleagues how international payment systems had been entering Russian market from 1989. Mr. Kashevarov also discussed tariff policy of the payment systems in Europe and Russia and emphasized that payment systems differentiate their tariff policies for different countries.

In conclusion, Deputy Head of FAS pointed out that today in Russia payment systems are used mostly for salary and by the clients with high-level. However, the situation should change dramatically with putting into service a universal electronic card of a citizen of the Russian Federation.
