OSCE Promotes Development of Entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan
OREANDA-NEWS. March 21, 2012. Modernization of economic laws to deepen free market reforms and economic liberalization was discussed today in Tashkent at an OSCE-supported international roundtable meeting in the Uzbek Parliament.
More than 100 representatives from the governmental, non-governmental, and private sector of Uzbekistan dealing with the development of entrepreneurship, as well as representatives of international organizations took part in the meeting.
“Creation of favourable legal environment for private sector is one of the main factors of economic development; it has a positive impact on small and medium enterprise development, as well as on employment and income growth,” said the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, Ambassador Gyorgy Szabo in his opening speech. “With this event, we seek to further support the development of the private sector in Uzbekistan.”
International experts including the State Secretary and high-level representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of Slovenia as well as the Deputy Director of the Research Centre of Private Law under the Russian President shared their expertise on legislative basis for the entrepreneurship and small business development.
The event was organized as part of the economic and environmental dimension activities of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator's Office in Uzbekistan together with the Committee on Industry, Construction and Trade of the Legislative Chamber of the Parliament (Oliy Majlis) of Uzbekistan.
