OREANDA-NEWS. March 20, 2012. Shanghai Baoye Construction Group (SBC-MCC Group) announced that, the first joint test was succeeded on the reaction frame jointly developed by the Steel Structure Company and Tongji University on March 2, 2012. The frame is featured by the largest diameter in China, reported the press-centre of MCC Group.

During the test, the first joint under testing was successfully broken in an abrupt manner after a load rated at 2.6 times of the design tensile stress was applied. “The test has been conducted smoothly and the data collection is a great success,” the experts from Tongji University who were responsible for on-site guidance placed a high premium on this test.

The test was carried out by the Steel Structure Joint Test Lab, which was jointly set up by the Steel Structure Company and Tongji University. This lab is also taken as the MCC Engineering Center for Manufacturing and Installation of Steel Structure, and the major test base for post-doctor work station of SBC-MCC Group.

In this lab, there is the largest sphere reaction frame in China, with a inner diameter of 6m and a load capacity of over 3,000 tons. The loading operation can be undertaken at any directions and any positions within the inner space.

Thanks to the joint effort made by both parties, the Steel Structure Company and Tongji University conquered various difficulties and eventually made the first joint test a complete success, laying a consolidated foundation for the establishment of the joint test and lab in the future. Furthermore, the lab will serve as an important base for successful collaboration between the universities and the enterprise, and thus greatly enhance the popularity and competitiveness of the Steel Structure Company of SBC-MCC Group.
