OREANDA-NEWS.March 19, 2012. This was stated by the premier at the Thursday’s press conference as he was revising results of the activity of the government for 2011. GDP declined 5,9% in 2009 and increased 7,1% and 6,4% in 2010 and 2011 respectively, he reminded.

According to him in 2011 Moldova saw the growth of the economic activity too: export and import grew 44,1% and 34,7% respectively. In 2010 export increased 22,9%, and import grew 17,6%. The Prime-minister expressed content with these indicators growing alongside with rise in production in industry, agriculture and investments.

The increase was 7,4% in the industrial production, 4,6% in agriculture and 9,3% in investments in long-term tangible assets. Ordinary people felt economic growth through higher wages. In December, 2011 the salary averaged 3707 leis, 8,4% up as compared with December, 2010. A number of employees increased from 1 mln. 143 thou. to 1 mln. 173 thou. people.

Thanks to the financial discipline, the national budget deficit did not changed as compared with 2010 and made up 2,4% of GDP. The national budget revenue grew 9,5% in 2011. the government continued implementing the well-balanced policy as for the state debt which decreased from 26,3% of GDP in 2010 to 23,2% in 2011, the Prime-Minister said. At the same time the results achieved do not signal sweeping changes for the better in people’s lives; but first steps toward this have been taken, Vladimir Filat said.

Here the Prime-Minister mentioned social achievements. Since June, 1, 2011, over 107 thou. workers of culture, arts, social assistance, sciences, sport and other budget-paid areas have been given 8,5% higher salaries. Since January, 1, 2012, salaries have 8,5% increased for 20 thou. servants of military and policing branch of government. Teachers saw three rises of their salaries within 2010-2011: 24%, 12,5% and 12,5%, 49% in total. in 2011 the government continued supporting socially vulnerable people by paying them recipient-oriented compensations and social allowances; 228 thou. people were given compensations at a total sum of 334 mln. leis.

In the cold season of 2011 social allowances were increased from 130 to 200 leis: about 100 thou. families received 1 thou. leis each in the heating period of 2011-2012. The social assistance budget grew by 118,1 mln. leis within 2009-2011, with a number of beneficiaries growing from 17 thou. to 72 thou. families. Since April, 2011 pensions have been indexed by 7,8%, and starting from April, 1, 2012 they will grow by 9,6%.
