Ukraine Will Intensify Programs of Retraining
OREANDA-NEWS. March 16, 2012. The education system has to prepare professionals in a view of the needs of the economy to reduce unemployment. This was announced by vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Social Policy Sergiy Tigipko during the online conference on the social network Facebook.
"The state was not involved in procurement planning for a long time, higher education institutions had prepared unnecessary economic experts. For example, we have today is much more than necessary, economists, lawyers, representatives of other specialties. There is another problem. The curricula in educational institutions do not meet the needs of the economy. As a result - 40% of graduates work within not their specialty"- vice Prime Minister said.
According to him in such circumstances the state has to intensify retraining programs to address unemployment. Among the promising directions in which today is a shortage of specialists, according to Tihipko is, in particular, the IT sector.
"Today Ukraine lacks 30 000 programmers and this without the huge demand from outside of Ukraine" - Sergiy Tigipko said.
According to him, the state should attract business to training. As an example Mr. Tigipko brought experience IT company that conducts retraining of workers with higher education, teaching them basic IT professions.
"I have recently met with representatives of Cisco. The Company prepared 9100 of staff for the year, first of all for themselves and their partners. They take people with good technical or philological education then during the period from 2 months to 3 years are preparing specialist. Wages of specialists after such training are increased by 5-10 times"- he said.
Sergiy Tigipko also added in the near future in the framework of the new social policy, he will present a new version of the law "On Employment", which provides a number of incentives to create jobs and fight unemployment. In particular, in the new version of the low will be spelled out opportunities for professional training of students in the employers, incentives to businesses that employ young people, retirement, disabled, orphans and single parents.
