Reducing Energy Consumption Faces Resource Bottleneck in China
OREANDA-NEWS. March 15, 2012. Wuhan Steel pointed out China is still facing some resource bottlenecks to reduce per unit energy consumption in its steel sector.
China iron ore is relatively low in iron content, compared with the typical grade of foreign iron ore, up to 62-65 percent. With the mining activity unfolding at home, the quality of domestic ore is becoming worse than it was several years ago.
The company is exploring ways to reduce its own energy consumption. It has managed to make breakthrough in technical innovation, such as increasing the utilization of both surplus heat and slag as a by-product of steel-operation.
