OREANDA-NEWS. From 17 June 2012, the Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, will provide a new direct passenger service between Moscow and Split in Croatia, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

A straight-through carriage will be attached to Train No. 15/16 Moscow – Budapest and operate once a week during the summer, from 17 June to 26 August.

The carriage will depart every Sunday as part of Train No. 15/16 Moscow - Budapest, arriving in Budapest on the following Tuesday. The carriage will then be hitched to Train No. 1204 Budapest - Split and arrive in Split on Wednesday.

The carriage will depart on the return leg from Split on Wednesdays as Train No. 1204, arriving in Budapest on Thursday. It will then be attached to Train No. 15/16 Budapest – Moscow and arrive in Moscow on Saturday.

Russian Railways provides direct and transit passenger services to 20 countries in Europe and Asia: France, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Monaco, Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro , Finland, China, Mongolia and North Korea. In all, 48 international routes are available.

Non-stop and direct trains and carriages on international routes are provided by Russia’s railway companies (Federal Passenger Company), and the railways of Poland, Finland, Mongolia, China and North Korea.

Passenger services with foreign countries were expanded significantly in 2011, increasing by 20% compared to 2010. In 2011, passenger numbers on services between Russia and non-CIS countries rose to 760,252 from 635,581 in 2010.

The development of passenger services with foreign countries is contributing to the expansion of the ticket sales network on Russian trains.

Since 2010, tickets can be purchased in Europe through the Hermes system, which ensures cooperation between the reservation systems of Russia and European countries.
