OREANDA-NEWS. March 15, 2012. As Dirk Schuebel, head of the EU delegation in Moldova, has stated, 12 mln. euros were allotted by the European Union, whereas another 1,1 mln. euros were assigned by UNDP.

The project is aimed at pushing forward cooperation between two banks of the Dneister. It embraces such areas as business, transportation, customs, environment, social infrastructure, civil society, education. The project also stipulates the support of state bodies responsible for the Trasdniestrian settlement and local authorities from both banks of the Dniester to follow development guidelines and monitor their implementation.

The project roots in programs which were implemented in 2009-2011 and designed to render a technical assistance to the Reintegration Bureau of Moldova. Spending of the funds is strictly controlled and international and domestic representatives are selecting companies and NGOs offering their projects, Eugeniu Carpov, vice-premier on reintegration of Moldova, has noted.

The project “Confidence-building measures in Moldova” complements other initiatives implemented in Moldova by various international donors, such as EU Mission, to render frontier aid to Moldova and Ukraine.
