Ukrainian Minister of Finance Will Go to USA to Negotiate with IMF
OREANDA-NEWS. March 15, 2012. Finance Minister Yuriн Kolobov on PM's orders in March visits Washington and meet with the new leadership of the IMF mission to discuss cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF.
This was started by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov talking to journalists.
"I have instructed the Minister of Finance to go to Washington in this month and meet with the new leadership of IMF mission and begin discussion of issues that are in our cooperation" - the Prime Minister said.
He stressed that Ukraine executes a cooperation program and doesn’t hold talks with the IMF to restructure its debt. "We do not hold any specific negotiations to restructure our debt. On the contrary: in January we have faithfully remedied portion of the debt, made by the previous Government in 2008, determined by the agreement" - Mykola Azarov said.
He stressed that received funds worth 11 billion dollars by the previous government "went like water in sand". "In 2008, the previous government received a huge amount: USD 11 billion. And where is this money? What was built for this money? Point at least one facility in Ukraine, which was built on these funds - they went like water into sand. But now we separate money from the economy and social sphere and return their debts" - the Prime Minister concluded.
