OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2012. Cargo volumes handled by Vanino Commercial Sea Port" (JSC Port Vanino) in January-February 2012 remained flat compared with the same months of 2011, at 926,300 tons, the company said Wednesday.

In the reporting period, Port Vanino saw 392,000 tons of outbound cargo, including 195,900 tons of timber, 145,400 tons of coal and 47,400 tons of aluminum.

Shipments of inbound goods during the period totaled 234,700 tons, which includes 219,600 tons of alumina. Coastal traffic amounted to 50,900 tons.

The two-month volume carried by Vanino-Kholmsk ferry service totaled 248,700 tons. In January-February, Port Vanino loaded/unloaded 186 ships, including 110 ferries and 10,100 railcars.

JSC Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Port Vanino) is a largest stevedore operating at the Port of Vanino (Khabarovsk Krai). The port of Vanino is a gateway for trade flows between Russia and Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of Asia Pacific Region. Port Vanino also handles imports shipped to the northern regions of Russia. The stevedoring company operates the Vanino 2.5-km-long berthing front with three specialized cargo handling facilities. In 2011, Port Vanino cargo throughput was down 1.7% year-over-year to 5.9 mln tons.
