OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2012. On January 18, 2012 the festive meeting dedicated to taking stock of 2011 was held for the first time in the Airport history. The representatives of the air carriers performing scheduled flights to Pulkovo Airport took part in it. The official part of the meeting was held in Ekaterinensky Hall at the new Crown Plaza Hotel located nearby the Pulkovo 2 terminal. Volker Wendefeuer Chief Operations Director Northern Capital Gateway LLC welcomed the partners, pointed out the importance of successful and effective cooperation, and thanked the partners for the considerable contribution to the development of Airport which achieved result of 9,6 million passengers in 2011. Mr. Wendefeuer expressed hope for continuation of the equally effective cooperation in 2012 which will make it enable to open new routes, increase the number of flights and provide more possibilities for comfort travelling of St Petersburg residents to different cities and countries. Eugeniy Ilyin Head of the Aviation Commerce Department took stock and announced 2011 overall indicators. The Airport partners were awarded the commemorative certificates. Rossiya Airlines won two awards for the Largest Airline Carried the Greatest Number of Passengers Thought the Air Harbor of St. Petersburg in 2011 and for The Greatest Number of Transfer Passengers Carried in 2011. Emirates Airlines became the discovery of the year for Pulkovo Airport and Polet Airlines won the award for the Most Decisive Airline Company. Transaero, UTair, Aeroflot, Air Berlin and others were also awarded for their contribution.

Eight teams of experts participated in “What? Where? When?” aviation quiz which contributed friendly ambience to the evening. After no joking intensity of emotions the ambience became more informal and buffet tables were served for the guests.
