Reformations in Ukraine Ensured Macroeconomic Stability, PM
OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2012. For two years of activity of the Government in Ukraine there has been achieved macroeconomic stability. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov emphasized at this during a meeting with the heads of representative offices of the leading foreign companies operating in Ukraine.
"If we say about what still managed to do during these two years, it is primarily achieved macroeconomic stability in the country" said PM, informed that the budget deficit, particularly in the public sector is almost zero after flops of 16% in 2009; a record low in recent years inflation: over 4% in 2011 and for first two months in 2012 - about 0.3% that in annual calculation - at the rate of about 3%; strengthening the national currency rate. "That is, all components of the macroeconomic situation are sustainable," concluded Prime Minister, stressing that the achievement of these results occurred in the difficult conditions: "We have experienced tremendous drought in 2010, we have gone through unusually severe winter, and we have the highest gas prices in the world."
Mykola Azarov emphasized that according to the disadvantageous for Ukraine gas contracts concluded by former prime minister, Ukraine today "at the input buys gas at a price of 518 USD per 1 thousand cubic meters. "According to him, if add here transportation, taxes, it comes out completely uncompetitive price for domestic industry.
"So we did not have any favorable conditions. And the fact that economic growth in aggregate 9.5% of GDP in two years - the result primarily of those reforms which being carried out by the country, and those efforts which are invested," Prime Minister underlined.
On March 11, 2012 it was two years after forming the Government under the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
